Unfortunately, there are not many places to have a snack in the area when corona measures are in progress. We were all the happier to find this snack bar by accident. The service was nice and friendly, the prices for the food were good and the food was delicious. Recommendable.

We were in Altenau at the beginning of November, due to Corona we had to take care of ourselves. Otherwise we'll go to a restaurant for lunch on vacation. But now everything has been closed. In the snack bar we went to eat french fries for the first time and were very pleasantly surprised. We were also greeted and served in a very friendly manner. Our supply was also certain. We got our food there on three days. It was really delicious, it doesn't smell like old fat, like in some snacks. On the last day I ordered the beef goulash, it was the Börner. Super tender meat and very tasty prepared. I threaten to come back, probably over Christmas, if Corona allows it. Greetings to the hosts, keep up the good work you guys are. Unfortunately I can only give 5 stars, would also give 10.

Delicious and good value for money! There was even a vegetarian schnitzel for me! But of course there is also something for the meat eaters.

Food came cold to the table, portions were very small and therefore expensive. Tables were not disinfected and we didn't have to leave any addresses. The service was more annoyed than pleased about guests. Not handicapped accessible, as the only handicapped parking lot is permanently occupied by motorbikes or cars and the only handicapped accessible entrance is parked. Unfortunately not a pleasant experience. Not recommended for people with disabilities 😢 On the PS. We didn't get a cutlery plate but only the food and the cutlery with napkins afterwards without a plate. And there were three of us !!!!

Too many people and therefore slow serving. But very accommodating with beer.

There was great curly fries and a vegan vegetable schnitzel. The big salad was great too! Preparation to take away extremely quickly, and very friendly staff. Thank you so much!

Was surprised by the menu, a delicious menu for little money, plus an Altenauer Pils, nice staff, clean, I have to go out to eat again.

Super nice staff including the boss. On the first visit, you missed the official kitchen time a little less and still got 4 take-away meals. Great schnitzel (breaded and fried in the pan). First-class Harz currywurst with delicious French fries. Self-created delicious sauces. The homemade waffles are a taste orgasm according to my wife. All thumbs up. Again and again when we are in the area.

Fresh dishes, piquant homemade goulash, freshly pounded schnitzel, you can hear that ... only the knives could be sharper and the delicious currywurst served on a slightly larger plate, but great outside area, cozy inside area, and you can tell the chef watch at work. Snack deluxe ... and a home-made waffle for dessert, perfect evening, thank you very much!

Highly recommended! Lovely little place on the side of the road in the beautiful Oberharz, just on the edge of Altenau, a tiny town with a pretty famous brewery and very nice beer. Great parking just across the road. A great, super cheap, eatery, with excellent service. The man spoke Dutch to us when he saw the number plates. He was chatty & very pleasant but super respectful in the way that Germans in the service industry excel at. The schnitzels were excellent. Rast house style is fabulous; with a perfectly fried egg over/in/with onion & bacon the ubiquitous & pretty well always delicious bratkartoffeln (alas for me white carb avoider). Even the wasps were well behaved. Hovering politely & going away. I didn't realise nudeln can mean any kind of pasta. So I got fusili (which I didn't eat), I'm sure many would have found the mushroom sauce delicious but I could taste vinegar & tomato so again it was a no, no for me. However once I'd scraped off the sauce and moved the pasta the schnitzel was top marks as was the side salad. We were very hungry, tucked straight in and were finished before I thought to take a photo. Which has to be the highest recommendation, wouldn't you say?
